The creative sector is a thriving, exciting and evolving environment. At South Downs College you have the opportunity to study in variety of areas, from fine art, textiles, drama and performing arts to music.
Our staff have all worked in the creative industries so you can be sure they’re sharing relevant knowledge. We offer a huge range of trips and residential visits to enrich your studies and we regularly welcome guest speakers.
Our facilities give art students the opportunity to work in the full range of mediums across craft and design. We are proud of our specialist printing studio with a range of printing presses including a 160 year old Albion flatbed press, silkscreen developing unit and storage racks for keeping work safe.
Textile design students have two specialist studios fitted with sewing machines, dyeing facilities, knitting machines and a heat press. Individual work stations allow students to work on projects without sharing table space.
We offer industry-standard, state-of-the-art facilities for music, drama and dance, including fully equipped computer rooms with access to Steam platform, custom media suites with high-quality editing software, music production suites with Logic Pro X and a custom-built recording studio.
We have three public venues for performances: our theatre, studio theatre and recital room. So there’s plenty of space for you to show off your talents.
You’ll be encouraged to take part in competitions, exhibitions and performances to put your talent into practice and interact with a real-life audience and visitors.
The teaching and support was absolutely brilliant, they couldn’t have done anything more or anything better, if I had any questions my lecturers would always stay behind to help me if I needed it and their emails were always open, it was second to none. South Downs College is the best by far.Amber Searle, BTEC student
