Higher education

Higher education is ideal for those considering a new career, or looking to progress to the next level in their current job. If you’ve completed your A Levels or a Level 3 vocational course and want an alternative to university Higher Education (HE) could be the right path for you.

Our Higher Education courses give you the possibility to study close to home on a part-time basis. Allowing you the flexibility to work whilst you study for your qualification. Providing an affordable alternative to university.

South Downs College have been delivering HE courses for over 10 years, and offer a range of subjects. Teaching pre-degree level qualifications at Level 4 (HNC) and Level 5 (HND) that could help further your employment prospects and often lead directly into a job.

Progression to university

HNC and HND are great qualifications in their own right. However, if you have aspirations to gain a full bachelor’s degree you have the option to ‘top up’ your qualification through our well established links with many local Universities including:

Student Finance

If you apply for a Higher Education course you will be required to pay the advertised fees course in full. You may be entitled to a government approved Student Loan which you will need to apply for from student finance. Whether you qualify for student finance is dependent on your course of study, your age and your nationality or residency status.
