What is it and where is it located?

All South Downs College students are part of its Student Union.

What does the Student Union do?

NUS Extra Cards

The NUS EXTRA card qualifies you for a fantastic range of discounts at retail outlets, travel and leisure activities and fun days out. You can also get a discount on Student Union trips and lots of online organisations.

The card costs £12 and is available to order during Welcome Days. All full time and part time students attending six hours or more of lessons per week are eligible to apply for a card.

Trips, Events and Support

The Student Union arranges a variety of trips and events. This has included trips to London for shopping and shows such as Wicked, Lion King, Grease, Dirty Dancing, Thorpe Park, Alton Towers and Harry Potter Studios. SDCSU organise various charity events and fun activities such as the College Quiz, pool competitions, and music and entertainment events.

We also hold a variety of awareness campaigns about health, wellbeing and quality issues.

The Peer Mentor Service is available to all students at the College and can provide personal and emotional support on a one to one basis.

Who runs the Union and how can I get involved?

The Union is run by Student Committees consisting of full time students elected by the students at the College every year. Any full time student can run to be a Student Union Officer, convincing others to vote for you is where the challenge begins!

Student Voice

In addition to the Student Committees, we have a College Reps system in place. Students can become Representatives for their course and communicate their ideas and concerns to the Committees, staff and the Principal. We also carry out projects to collect students’ views and ideas which are used to bring about change.

Student Governors

Two students are also elected as Student Governors. These students attend Corporation meetings and have a say in the overall running of the College, representing Student Voice.
