Catering student wows judges with Michelin standard dish

On the 20 May 2017 Craft Catering student Jonny Smith won second place in the final of the Rotary Young Chef of the year competition. Jonny competed against seven other finalists from across the country, cooking a three course meal for two people.

Paul Mansfield, course manager for Level 1 Craft Catering stated:

Feedback from the judges suggested it was a close call between first and second place. Second place is a major achievement since the competition started with over 5000 competitors, Jonny should be very proud.

Walter Zanre summped up on behalf of the judges

Jonny Smith produced one of the exceptional dishes of the day.  The crab bisque that Jonny served with his crab tortellini was outstanding and could grace the table of any Michelin starred restaurant.
