To access your College email,
click the link below:
http://webmail.southdowns.ac.uk
You will be presented with a security alert informational box. Please click [Yes]
to continue. Then login as you normally do on the network, with your account username
and password.
Students and staff: Log
in as sdc\username (replacing 'username' with your network username).
For users of the Administration
(or staff) network: You will need to login as adm\username.
After a few moments the web mail client will load. You can send and receive e-mail
from here. Remember that College web mail has the same terms and conditions as normal
College e-mail.
New users should read
this first:
The College Intranet contains help, information, handouts and notes for your courses
and the College itself. To access the Intranet from outside the College Networks,
click the link below and log in. When outside the College, we refer to the Intranet
as the Extranet.
The College has two networks, and as a College Member (staff or student), you will
belong to one of them. To log in to the Extranet you will use your normal network
user ID and password.
- If you are an academic network user, either Student (for example with the user ID
30012345) OR Teaching Staff (for example with the user ID fsmith), you should log
in with the user ID: sdc\30012345 OR sdc\fsmith and your normal password.
- If you are an admin network user, (for example with the user ID fsmith) you should
login with the user ID: adm\fsmith and your normal password.
Some links will not work from outside the College without further authentication.
For example Infotrac will require Athens authentication. Please contact the LRC
for further advice.
You can now to use the internet to access your MyWork folders and learning resources
on the college network from home or another remote location, or a laptop that you
wish to use both at home and at College.
To access your folders just log on using your current college network username and
password. Your web browser will then present you with a web page which allows you
to access your college files and documents.
You are now able to access the college network from home, and you no longer need
to copy files onto floppy discs or USB drives or email files home to be able to
do homework. (Having backups on USB drives is always a good idea as well.)
This means that you will not have to worry about having different versions of the
same document in different places.
