Travel information for part time students

Part time students who are in receipt of an income-based benefit may be able to claim their travel expenses back from their home to the course venue. Once an application form has been completed and the evidence of your benefit has been seen and approved by the Student Travel & Support team, you can either claim bus, train or mileage costs. You will need to complete a Travel Expenses form every time that you are requesting a refund. If you are using public transport, proof of the tickets and the cost must be attached to the form.

If you are claiming mileage, this will be processed half-termly at 0.40p per mile capped at £10 per day).

All travel claims will be checked against attendance – the College will not pay for any non-attendance or for any lessons that required the student to work from home.

Before you claim any costs, you will need to complete the Financial Assistance for Part Time Students Application Form.

Bus passes that can be used 7 days a week (within the specified zone) for part time students attending Alton Campus:

Part time students may also order a bus pass online from the Stagecoach app (mobile phone bus passes) or the Stagecoach website. This StudentRider Gold bus pass will be at a discounted price for students. You will need to pay for the pass at the time of ordering online. No further financial assistance will be given towards the cost of this bus pass.

Part time students may order a bus pass online from the Stagecoach app (mobile phone bus passes) or the Stagecoach website or the First Bus mTicket App (the bus company you will need to use will depend on the area you live in).  The bus passes will be at a discounted price for students. You will need to pay for the pass at the time of ordering online. No further financial assistance will be given towards the cost of this bus pass.
