Student Travel and Support

Welcome to the Student Travel & Support information for 2023/2024. Our aim is to provide a travel scheme that offers flexibility of choice, meets our students’ needs and does not put a barrier in the way of a student accessing their education. We work closely with both First Bus and Stagecoach bus companies to offer student-priced bus passes and to provide as many direct routes to HSDC as possible. We also work with South Western Railway to provide those students who wish to travel by train a reduced cost rail pass. Further financial help towards travel and essential college costs may be available if the household is in receipt of an income-based benefit. Please see the ‘Finance Support’ section for further information.

My experience at the college was enjoyable and productive, with thoroughly helpful people surrounding you, an excellent experience. I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was, with the work shop time and experience I had, it was a great two years preparing me for the next stage.

Edward Smith, BTEC student

There are lots of people at the college, each studying a diverse range of courses, people from all different areas come to study here, it creates a sense of community, there is a huge social aspect to college life across all courses.

Lee Backhouse, BTEC student

I overcame a couple of barriers by working really hard to get the top grades. My experience was really good, with the course and the lecturers, the residentials and activities, together it was all really good. I had really great teaching support, I could always go to the lecturers and speak to them if I needed to.

David Stenning, Public Services student
