Careers, Employability and Work Experience

Speak to our Careers Team for impartial advice and guidance on considering your options after education. From applying to university, to work experience, volunteering and apprenticeships we offer a service that is personalised to you.

We have an experienced team of advisors who can help you to consider your options after education. We want every student who studies at South Downs College to have the opportunity to achieve their aspirations. Everyone has a different goal, so we deliver personalised advice and guidance to help you succeed.

We offer impartial guidance and are happy to help you with higher education applications, part-time and full-time jobs, gap year ideas, volunteering and options for further study.

If you want to continue your studies in higher education we can offer you advice and guidance to help you choose a course and institution to suit you. We will help you prepare a strong application and suggest areas for you to research, to prepare you for interviews.

Deadlines are extremely important for HE applications, particularly if you are applying for competitive courses or to competitive universities including the Russell Group, Oxford and Cambridge. Make sure you visit us if you need any help or advice about an application.

We encourage you to consider work experience alongside your studies. Work experience can give you a great insight into the workplace, it will enhance your CV for applications to further education and can even lead to full or part-time employment.

Starting higher education or further studies is not for everyone, any of our students decide to pursue employment. We also provide advice and guidance on entering the workplace  and apprenticeship opportunities.

We can support you with CV writing and completing job applications. If you would like to build up your work experience then we can suggest ways of enhancing your CV such as doing some voluntary work in a local organisation.

If you don’t have a career in mind, we have a range of resources that can highlight your strengths and help to point you in the right direction for employment.

Visit the team in the Career Zone for information on the opportunities available to you. You will find us at the front entrance of the College at the following times:
