Feeding your stomach whilst feeding your mind is an important activity for all our students!
The College Cafés provide a variety of hot and cold food and beverages within the College over five days a week.
The Courtyard Café
The Courtyard Café is a modern and stylish area that proves very popular with the students. A 50" plasma screen provides entertainment, music video, news and College TV as well as live feeds from the College Theatre.
The area is air conditioned, but if you prefer, there is also a covered seated area outside.
Start the day with a hot breakfast, or ‘do lunch’ with your friends. In addition there is a wide selection of homemade sandwiches, baguettes, cakes and biscuits along with a variety of hot and cold drinks.
The hot food counter is open 8.30am until 6.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am until 3.00pm on Friday.
The cold food counter is open 8.30am until 8.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am until 4.00pm on Friday.
Café North
Café North, situated on the first floor of the North Building offers hot breakfasts, hot and cold snacks, homemade cakes, biscuits and sandwiches. The counter service is open between 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.
Within the seating area there is also a variety of vending machines which hold a selection of snack items and hot and cold drinks.
Students are entertained in Café North by a 50" plasma screen, showing music, entertainment and College TV and Radio shows.
Café North also has WiFi wireless internet access, free for students to use. You are encouraged to bring your WiFi-enabled laptop or palmtop into the Café to surf the internet or catch up with email.

The Balcony Café
The Balcony Café can be found on the first floor of the South East Building. The cafe is a spacious, light-filled room with a sloping ceiling and natural wood flooring. At one end is a cyber café that has 8 flat screened PC workstations, available for student use, each with access to your College Network account, email and high-speed internet access. Where better to grab a cup of coffee while you catch up with your favourite web sites?
Seating and tables fill the rest of the space making this a comfortable place to take a break from study during the day.
Outside there is a covered balcony that looks out over the ground floor seating area and the Coffee House. Rain or shine, the balcony is a great place to sit and have lunch or a snack and meet up with friends.

The Coffee House
Follow the smell of freshly brewed coffee and home-made cookies and you will find yourself in The Coffee House. Our Coffee Menu is full of your favourite fresh roast coffees as well as assorted blended teas and the very popular Cioccolato Supremo - a tall Belgian fudge hot chocolate topped with fresh whipped cream and finished with a Cadbury's Flake!
The Coffee House is open from 9.00am until 3.45pm and sells a range of muffins, cakes, cookies and deep-filled sandwiches, as well as refreshing fruit juices and ice creams.
Situated in the heart of the College, you can meet up with friends, or chill out with a book. The Coffee House has a huge picture window with views out to the quadrangle and Balcony Café and is bright and comfortable all year round.
You will also find our Microsoft XBox network in the Coffee House -- three Microsoft XBox video game consoles linked to each other for multiplayer games when you feel like a total break. Games are changed regularly and players are encouraged to form teams and clans.
Add to that free WiFi wireless internet access and you begin to see why The Coffee House is a popular place to relax and socialise at South Downs College. Grab a latté, a laptop and do lunch!

Studio Café
Whatever you are in the mood for, the Studio Café has a huge range of freshly filled deli subs, salads, treats and drinks to choose from. Every one of our subs is made right in front of you, in delicious combinations of fillings that you pick!
You can choose a bread type, fillings, salads, dressings and sauces and your sandwich will be created and toasted while you wait.
The Studio is our newest eating area, has a relaxed atmosphere, comfortable seating and is contemporary by design. It is a great place to meet, eat and chat. The huge south facing glass wall opens on sunny days on to a terrace in the quadrangle, making it easy to grab a picnic lunch and sit on the grass or at any of the stylish café tables.
You could even indulge in a sparkling cupcake or delicious doughnut to accompany a coffee at break time.
