Security at Sporting Events Level 3 Certificate
This course is aimed at people who are interested in working as stewards or marshalls at sport stadiums, festivals and other similar events. The course includes a range of qualifications and work experience opportunities that will enable you to develop a career in this exciting industry.
A pre-requisite for this course is to have ideally completed a Level 3 Public Services, Uniformed Services or Sport qualification. Students should also have English and Maths GCSEs at C or above. However, if you do not have either of these, you can still do the course but you will be expected to complete Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English.
The course will be delivered over 10 taught hours per week. The course will take place on Thursdays & Fridays at a combination of the college and Havant and Waterlooville Football Club. This will be delivered through lectures, group discussions, video, role-play and demonstrations. In addition to this students must take part in the weekly work experience opportunities which will usually take place on Saturday afternoons at Havant and Waterlooville Football Club. This will involve working on match days as a steward where you will assessed against some of the criteria of the course. There will also be other spectator events that you will be expected to attend at the National Watersports Festival and at Fort Purbrook.
You will also be expected to come to the college on another day each week to complete GCSE/Functional Skills English and maths qualifications if you do not already have these at a grade C or above.
L2 NVQ in spectator safety
L3 Certificate in Customer Service
L2 Award in Door Supervision
And Functional Skills qualifications in either ICT or Maths/English
On successful completion of the course you will be qualified to work at a variety of spectator events including sporting events, festivals and live music venues. There may also be opportunities for employment with Havant and Waterlooville Football Club.
Students aged over 19 on 01 September of the year the course commences will be required to pay tuition and assessment fees. If you are in receipt of an income based benefit, please ask about financial assistance which may be available.
