Microsoft Excel for Beginners
A short course focused solely on Microsoft Excel. You will spend 5 weeks getting to grips with Microsofts popular spreadsheet application. Across the world companies rely on Excel and its powerful feature for manipulating data. You will start off by learning the basics of creating formulas, presenting information, charting and linking workbooks to create more powerful solutions. If you would like to develop your Excel skills or just add something new to your CV then this is for you.
No experience of spreadsheets is necessary but you should have experience of using the internet and a solid understanding of the basics of file and folder management.
On this course you will cover the following topics:
– Getting started with the interface
– Creating basic formulas
– Using the formatting options to improve the presentation
– Use styles to speed up the presentation and consistency of a workbook
– Use some advanced formulas and named cells and ranges
– Create charts to provide a graphical element to your data
– Link workbooks, worksheets and embed data into other applications
Each topic will be introduced with relevant tuition/demonstrations/handouts – followed by tasks for practice.
Students will be assessed through the development of a portfolio of work covered throughout this course.
No additional equipment or materials are required.
You will be awarded with a College Certificate outlining the skills you have obtained during this 5 week course.
After completing this course you could progress on to one of the other Microsoft courses.
