Are you aged 16-18 and feel that you didn’t reach your potential at school? Are you ready to create your future with South Downs College? On our courses you will be treated differently than at school - we provide you with a personal tutor and make sure you have every opportunity to succeed.

You do not need any formal qualifications to join this course.

Course Content

Within your study programme you will have dedicated employability and personal development weeks where you will be involved in trips, team-building and project work that will help you to become a better learner. You will choose from a range of subject pathways and be taught a broad curriculum in subjects you love…and every week you will have tutorial, maths and English.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught by a range of different teachers both in the classroom and specialist areas. You will join in with group discussions and be expected to develop independent skills to research and present your ideas. You will have a personal tutor who will guide you through your time at college and ensure you stay on track.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed in many ways, with the majority of coursework built into a portfolio that will show off all of your skills. Depending on your choice of subject, you will also be involved in presentations, shows, performances or exhibitions!
Functional Skills English and maths are assessed with a written exam but this is a critical part of your programme and you will be supported to achieve to your best ability.

Will I need any extra equipment?

Depending on your choice of subject, you may need uniform or specialist materials. Stationery and other equipment will all be provided by the College.

Progression from your study programme could be into employment, apprenticeships or further study at Level 2.
