Air Cabin Crew Training – Level 2 Diploma
This course is aimed at those wanting a career as Air Cabin Crew, and will allow students to apply and take up relevant full time employment opportunities. Those who have already gained a C or above in GCSE English and Mathematics, will have the opportunity to complete the course in two terms, rather than three.
A Level 1 or Level 2 qualification and at least four GCSEs at grade D or above.
The (City & Guilds) Level 2 Diploma in Air Cabin Crew units include:
- Introduction to Airline/Aviation Operations
- Airline Health, Safety and Security
- Airline Emergency Procedures
- Crew Room Duties
- Role of Air Cabin Crew (On Board)
- Preparations for Employment as Air Cabin Crew
- Certificate in Ground Operations
- Functional Skills English/Mathematics.
A number of classes will be held in South Downs College’s own B747 aircraft section, so it will be as realistic as possible.
This course has a great emphasis on practical application.
Progress will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, observations, examinations, role-plays and case studies.
Specialist components will be assessed off-site during a residential to the Virgin Atlantic training base at London Gatwick Airport. This will include safety and emergency training procedures in Ditching, Fire & Smoke and Slide Deployment. This is compliant with all UK airlines, approved by Civil Aviation Authority standards. This trip is compulsory and will cost approximately £225.
All students will be required to wear a uniform to designated classes. The cost of the uniform is approximately £100.00 – financial assistance may be available. Students need to be aware that this course is preparing them for work in a very competitive and demanding industry. Consequently they will be required to comply with a strict uniform and grooming code.
A mock airline interview day will take place in December in preparation for employment. This will cost approximately £40.00.
Successful students will achieve a City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Air Cabin Crew Training.
There will also be an opportunity for students to take additional relevant qualifications such as GCSE English or Maths and AS/A level subjects alongside this course.
Successful students will be able to apply to work in the Airline Industry, working at an airport or somewhere similar.
Students, aged over 19 on the 1 September of the year the course commences will be required to pay tuition and examination/assessment fees. There are a number of grants available for students on low incomes and for those studying on a first time qualification. Details will be given at interview.
