How will I be taught?

A number of classes will be held in South Downs College’s own B747 aircraft section, so it will be as realistic as possible.

This course has a great emphasis on practical application.

How will I be assessed?

Progress will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, observations, examinations, role-plays and case studies.

Specialist components will be assessed off-site during a residential to the Virgin Atlantic training base at London Gatwick Airport. This will include safety and emergency training procedures in Ditching, Fire & Smoke and Slide Deployment. This is compliant with all UK airlines, approved by Civil Aviation Authority standards. This trip is compulsory and will cost approximately £225.

Will I need any extra equipment?

All students will be required to wear a uniform to designated classes. The cost of the uniform is approximately £100.00 – financial assistance may be available. Students need to be aware that this course is preparing them for work in a very competitive and demanding industry. Consequently they will be required to comply with a strict uniform and grooming code.

A mock airline interview day will take place in December in preparation for employment. This will cost approximately £40.00.

What qualifications will I get?

Successful students will achieve a City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Air Cabin Crew Training.

There will also be an opportunity for students to take additional relevant qualifications such as GCSE English or Maths and AS/A level subjects alongside this course.

What will it allow me to do in the future?

Successful students will be able to apply to work in the Airline Industry, working at an airport or somewhere similar.
