With 46 A level courses and over 40 Vocational courses in our full time programme
and a host of part time courses and qualifications running throughout the year we
have something to interest anyone wishing to continue their education – whatever
the level.
We are the largest College in Hampshire with over 5,000 full time students and thousands
of part time students studying with us every year on a range of courses varying
in length from one day to two years.
As well as offering a diverse range of courses, our modern and stylish facilities
include a large Learning Resources Centre, four cafés, fitness centre, purpose built
music building with practice rooms, recital room and recording studio, a fully operational
training restaurant and a hair and beauty salon (both of which are open to the public).
This combination of courses and resources make South Downs one of the best colleges
in the area.
One of the many benefits to coming to a college the size of South Downs is the sheer
range of facilities and extra curricula activities we are able to offer our students.
Activities taken through our unique Enrichment programme work as impressive CV enhancers
and look great on University application forms, as well as being a lot of fun.
Enrichment courses are entirely optional and should you wish to take one, run alongside
your main programme of study.
There are currently over 70 different short courses to choose from, ranging from
a variety of sporting activities to introductory courses in certain foreign languages.
You could learn to play the guitar, do a first aid course or maybe take part in
the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. These are just a few of the Enrichment options
open to you.
We pride ourselves on our modern and stylish facilities and with fourteen building
projects completed within the last thirteen years, South Downs has a commitment
to constantly up-dating and improving its facilities.
New developments include a state of the art fitness centre, purpose-built music
facilities, hair & beauty teaching salon, redeveloped reception and student services
area and new teaching buildings giving us twenty two new teaching rooms in the last
five years alone.
The Coffee House features three free-to-play Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles, a pool
table and the best coffee on campus. Our three other refectories, The Balcony Café,
The Courtyard Café and Café North also each have their own unique features including
a cyber café, outside seating and 50” plasma screens broadcasting music videos,
college news and information and local weather throughout the day.
Accessible College
South Downs College is also fully wheelchair accessible, removing
any accessibility issues that may hamper a student’s ambitions to attend College.
