Whatever you decide to study at College you will be thinking about your future and planning the next step.

The team from Advice & Guidance are there to help you research all your options and plan your career. You don’t have to book an appointment with a careers adviser as we offer a daily drop-in service.

We can help you with university applications, part time and full time jobs, gap year ideas and options for further study. In addition to the drop-in service we offer interviews and group work as part of the tutorial process.

Our team of fully qualified careers advisers work with staff from Connexions to offer you the best possible information, advice and guidance.

This service is open to you before you even start College and if you would like any help in thinking about your course choices you can talk to Advice & Guidance Staff at Open Evenings or come in for an appointment with one of the team.

Volunteering

Have you ever wanted to do something interesting, meet new people and try out new experiences and have fun at the same time? Do you have any spare time that you can give? Do you want to further your chances of employment or that brilliant university place? Do you want to make an impact?

What about trying some voluntary work?

Through the College Advice & Guidance department we can help you organise that volunteering opportunity and there is also a chance to get that volunteering accredited. You might want to do something on your own or with friends, a one-off event or something that you do for a couple of hours a week.

Students at the College have recently been involved in hospital volunteering, conservation, sport, youth work, helping people with disabilities and one-off events such as the Race for Life, helping out at the Young Carers Festival and stewarding at a music festival.

Emily, a student who has been involved with hospital volunteering this year says “I have become a lot more confident thanks to volunteering, and I feel that I can interact with people from any background more effectively now. It increases your sense of self-worth and really makes you feel as if you are making a difference” and “I honestly believe that without volunteering, I would not have received my three interviews and two offers for medicine on my chosen university course.”
